We are setting up a clay basket for clay time in our homeschool in preparation for starting the Build Your Masterpiece Class and we are going to be doing a lot of art projects with clay too! I wanted to start by creating new and exciting baskets to keep all of the art supplies in to stay organized. I took a trip to the dollar store with one of my children and he was a huge help. We found clay, a basket and most of the accessories I was hoping to find.
Let’s take a look at what we found for our Clay Basket for Clay Time:
I found the clay my kids enjoy working with and it’s really not too much money at the dollar store. I also grabbed some Crayola air dry clay at staples right next door.
I found a nice glass bottle of seashells, which I was wanting to get for us to make imprints in our clay with and some tiny jewels in the smallest glass bottles I have ever seen, I just had to get them. I placed them in with the seashells so they won’t get lost. I will continue to look for objects to use for imprinting in Clay this year.
I also found lace trim in a couple sizes, and some tiny jewels in the smallest glass bottles I had ever seen, I just had to get them. I placed them in with the seashells so they won’t get lost.
These will go perfectly with our week 10 art projects when we are making lace clay magnets and learning about Ireland. Then I found this interesting little box with many wooden shapes in it.
I thought this could be fun for a lot of things actually but, also imprinting the shapes into the clay as well as anything else my kids can come up with. So I grabbed one. I took them all out of the package, and I also bought one container for them to go into, because the box they came in, did not have a lid.
I took them out of the package and placed them into the small container, to keep all nicely together. I placed all of this into the basket, as neatly as I could manage and I was all set.
This was done at night, with not the best lighting, sorry guys. (I’m working on better lightening) but I also threw in one of the small rolling pins we have for play dough that the kids enjoy using as well as the lace all rolled up nicely.
So there you go guys, an affordable clay basket you can create with an easy trip to the dollar store. I hope to collect a few more things as we go because I’ve been inspired for clay work for our homeschool.
And now for a slight update…
I have been cleaning up our homeschool space and because we had so much clay, enough for three kids, plus a few more objects for imprinting, I went searching our house for another basket to use for all the clay and I found one. Now I have the smaller basket filled with the extra objects we will use for imprinting in the clay.
I went searching for a few more objects around the house, that is good for imprinting like; Duplo LEGO and some other toys, plus some cookie cutters.
I will be posting about our newly cleaned up Homeschool space soon!
