They will separate us into two groups, ranging from grade 1-4 and grade 5-8.
Please dress warm enough for the outdoor excursion at the pond, with a possible change of clothes if needed. I would recommend kids bringing/wearing rubber boots for this.
Let’s Kick off this new homeschool year together, with a fun science field trip at the Zoo!
The program consists of 2 parts. Groups larger than 15 participants will be split into two groups according to age. The program is structured as follows:
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The kid’s ages 5-8 (grades 1-4) will start with the Meet the Creature Program.
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The kid’s ages 9-13 (grades 5-8) will start with the History Tour of the Zoo. This will start with a very brief slide show of what the Forestry Farm Park was like in the “early” days and then end with a walk to show some of the heritage buildings and what they were used for.
(allowing some extra time for switching here)
2:10-3:10 pm Younger kids Will meet with ME, Alexandra Derry at the front of the Centre for a Scavenger Hunt. This is the time where all the younger siblings and all the moms and dads can be together, and we will go on a fun Scavenger hunt in search of a list of animals in the zoo. I will have some fun prizes for those kids after we are done!
2:10-3:10 pm The Older kids will do the Meet the Creature program.
This does mean that the older children will get two programs and the younger ones just the one, but we believe the older children will find the information valuable, and the time including the younger kids of the family will be really good as well.
Both programs are led by Saskatoon Zoo Society educators.
We will do the Pond Dipping Program again in the SPRING.
Please be advised that the Zoo is a scent-free facility. You are welcome to assign one parent to take pictures during the program. We do not allow each parent to take pictures while we are delivering a program (it becomes too intrusive for our educators and may become stressful to the animal). No video is allowed.
Please register and pay below to get your children’s names on the list for this great field trip, please leave a comment with your child’s names, ages and grade level,
See you then, if you have any questions about this trip or any others, please message me in the comments below, or send me a message on the contacts page. Thanks!
This event is fully booked.
