European Countries Reading Plan

Sharing is caring!

Today I will be sharing with you a beloved list of books we have found to be wonderful study aids in learning about the countries of our world. I have a later post here about some of the books we found to be really great for learning about the countries for kids, with fun stories for kids, but this time I wanted to share the list of all the books, under each country for you. I wanted to cover Canada in there as well because Canada is where we live!

But as much as we have already covered that Canada is our country and Saskatchewan is our province and Saskatoon is our city, I began to think about the history of Canada, how it is a relatively new country, settled by people who immigrated from so many other countries, I wanted to start with some of those European Countries, as well as the ones our family history goes back to as well. I thought this would be a better way for them to understand what Canada is more about, with it being a Mixing Pot and all.

What first started my plan of the world countries, was making a list of all the countries I had traveled to, as well as my brother, their uncle Calahan who from a very young age, began to travel the world (He now lives in Australia!) Because he lives so far away, I wanted to bring him closer to my kids as we touched on the countries that he has traveled too. When we get to a country he has visited, we facetime him, or Viber call him and ask him about his time there. It really has been fun, and I am in the process of getting him to become a guest writer on my blog with some fun posts about his adventures.

With our large world map, we have have been learning about the countries of the world and we started with Italy because it was the most interesting based on the shape of the country is a boot! The kids liked to search for this so called boot-shaped country, and then we started from there with one book, then another and another.I wanted to search for a fun list of books to have on hand

There will be more posts as we go through our plan of the world countries, and I wanted to share this fun list of books, art lessons, and unit printable that I have researched, with you all! It makes me pretty excited to share it.
